A CONVERSATION

Describe the ‘Helen Davies’ touch.

First and foremost, I guarantee you an entirely stress free experience.

I will introduce you to all of the suppliers you need in order to ensure that every single aspect of your wedding is delivered in accordance with your expectations and to the highest standards. I also assist you in identifying some of the personal finishing touches which will make your wedding unique. I will be the single point of contact for all your suppliers and will take care of all the emails, telephone calls and meetings which you do not necessarily have time to deal with whilst providing progress updates and prompts, as opposed to you having to deal with multiple suppliers who may otherwise place unwelcome demands on your time. You have unlimited access to me and will receive professional advice on all matters relating to your wedding.

The matter of greatest importance to me on the day is that you experience precisely the feelings you want to have. In readiness for the day, everyone involved receives a detailed itinerary so they all know precisely where they need to be and when. On the day, I will be there to make sure everything is exactly as you want it to be, leaving you free to enjoy every single moment with the confidence that comes from knowing an experienced and professional Wedding Planner, who knows exactly what you want, is taking care of everything.

What brought you to a career in Wedding Planning?

I had a successful career in Financial Services. As Internal Communications Manager for a FTSE 250 company responsible for managing a communication strategy with an audience of over 15,000 people I was accountable for organising events in the UK and in Europe. It became clear that this was my forte and it was certainly the aspect of my role that I enjoyed the most.  In 2011, I was honoured to be asked by a very good friend to assist her in planning her wedding, which was a very rewarding experience in so many ways. Shortly after the wedding, her Photographer contacted me and suggested that we meet for coffee to discuss ways in which we could help each other. He had presumed that I was a full time Wedding Planner. When I explained that I had merely been helping my friend, he told me in no uncertain terms that I should seriously consider a career change! According to him, I had completely changed his perception of how a Wedding Planner worked. This conversation planted a seed and in 2012 (whilst continuing to work full time initially) I launched and began to build my own Wedding Planning business.

What are your key pieces of advice for couples on planning their big day?

  • Set a budget and stick to it
  • Prioritise – focus on the ‘big ticket’ items first
  • Don’t over think it!
  • Remember that it is YOUR day
  • Make it personal – identify the personal touches that will make your day unique
  • Take time to ENJOY the day – build this into your itinerary to ensure that you have chance to step back and do not let it run away. Before you know it, someone will be shouting last orders!
  • TRUST your suppliers

“You are such an inspiration and what a privilege it has been to get to know you. You will always have a special place in our hearts. Thank you again for making our wedding the best day of our lives.”

Rachael and Jonathan

How do YOU relax and unwind when you are not busy creating unforgettable experiences for others?

For me, the perfect antidote to any stress and the ideal way in which to unwind after a busy spell is to spend a day or even just a couple of hours (if that is all the time I have available) walking in the countryside or on the beach with my adorable four legged friend, Percy.  He is a four year old Maltipoo with an incredible zest for life. Whatever he lacks in stature, he certainly makes up for in character!

Is it expensive to hire a Wedding Planner with your expertise?

Hiring a Wedding Planner is often perceived as a luxury and something that is only available at considerable expense, but that is a myth! In actual fact, as a direct result of our knowledge, experience and contacts – not to mention the ability to anticipate issues and potential pitfalls long before they arise – if a Wedding Planner does their job properly we should save you oodles of time and money.

In order to make my knowledge and expertise accessible to everyone, no matter how restricted your budget may be, I offer couples the opportunity to ‘Resolve their wedding planning worries in one hour with Helen Davies’, the cost of which is just £100.

This gives you the opportunity to discuss your vision for your perfect wedding with an experienced, knowledgeable and professional Wedding Planner. In doing so, you will be offered invaluable advice and guidance and avoid some of the pitfalls you may otherwise encounter ensuring that ultimately, you have precisely the experience you want to have. In just an hour with me, I will help you to identify your priorities and kick start your plans by pointing out all of the suppliers you will need, ensuring that absolutely nothing is overlooked. It is also an ideal opportunity to ask questions about etiquette or resolve dilemmas relating to any aspect of your plans. An hour with me could be all the help you need.
